Sirona Medical acquires Nines and its key personnel
SAN FRANCISCO, February 18, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Sirona Medical, a software company built on a deep understanding of both the practice and business of radiology, today announced the acquisition of Nines’ AI capabilities, including its clinical data pipeline, machine learning engines, its AI-powered radiology workflow management and analysis tools, and two FDA-cleared medical devices. In addition, key personnel from Nines will join Sirona Medical, including Maureen Bradfordas Chief Revenue Officer.
FDA approved medical devices, NinesMeasure™a lung nodule algorithm that leverages AI to speed up the diagnosis of certain respiratory diseases, and NinesAI™ Emergent Triage, an AI-powered set of algorithms that triages urgent and life-threatening indications of intracranial hemorrhage and mass effect, will be integrated into Sirona’s radiology operating system (RadOS), a unified platform that combines siled radiology applications into a cohesive user experience.
“Nines’ inspiration has always been to take advantage of the latest AI capabilities and use them to transform radiology for the better,” said David Stavens, former CEO of Nines. “Over the past few years, Nines has made tremendous strides from a technology perspective. I’m thrilled to have Nines’ innovations incorporated into Sirona’s impressive RadOS to accelerate their fantastic mission, their customers and their team. .”
The acquisition follows that of Sirona strategic partnership with RevealDx to integrate their CE-marked RevealAI-Lung algorithm into Sirona’s RadOS platform and marks another key milestone in Sirona’s commercial deployment to deliver new value to its radiology customers.
“For AI adoption to happen at scale, you need to break down the artificial silos of a medical image viewer, a study worklist, and a voice recognition reporter. This It is only through a unified platform that AI can take full advantage of the underlying data and deliver context-specific results in the most relevant way for radiologists,” said Cameron Andrews, founder and CEO of Sirona Medical. “I’ve been a lifelong fan of what Nines has built and we’re thrilled to add their brilliant minds to the team, as we continue to develop our vision to help radiologists through better software.”
Sirona Medical did not acquire Nines’ teleradiology business, Nines Radiology. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“With the increasing demands on radiologists’ time and effort, enabling more efficient workflows while maintaining high quality care is a top priority for all radiology practices. Sirona Medical’s RadOS offers an integrated technology stack solution, and I’m excited to see it integrate Nines’ machine learning tools across several stages of the workflow journey,” said Dr. Alexander Kagenco-founder of Nines and chairman of the radiology site, Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside, associate professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
