At the 2nd World AI Summit in Riyadh, Saudia, the national airline of Saudi Arabia, announced plans to include voice recognition and augmented reality in its offerings. To advance artificial intelligence in the aviation industry, Saudia has entered into an agreement with the Saudi Agency for Data and Artificial Intelligence and the Saudi Company for Artificial Intelligence.

Alhazmi said one of SDAIA’s products, an app called SauTech, is used by the company to conduct research on speech recognition technology. “Fantastic app. At the moment it recognizes Arabic dialects accurately. And right now we are investigating potential applications and use cases to start integrating it into our services,” he added.

In addition to embracing augmented reality and the Internet of Things, the company also intends to be the first to integrate AI into its services.

“Our strategic goal is to create a network of partners who can digitize our customers’ experience with us. Our goal is to provide our customers with an exceptional experience.

We are going digital as part of our Digital First Adaptation program. We now believe that our consumers should have access to all current scientific and technological data. By providing a customizable platform that allows you to personalize your journey, we hope to improve self-service alternatives.

Alhazmi believes there is great potential for technology to be integrated into the industry, and the digitization features already used by airlines, such as downloading tickets to mobile devices, could be greatly increased.

“That’s actually the main focus, because we understand that there’s a new generation of people who are more interested in technology and using it every day,” he added.

Saudia recently partnered with agri-tech company Red Sea Farms to provide sustainable, high-quality meals to its customers. “We can see that technology adoption in Saudi Arabia is generally more mature than in other countries,” Alhazmi concluded.
