(NEWARK, NJ) – Grammy Award-winning Renée Fleming and Joshua Bell and internationally acclaimed soprano Larisa Martínez headline free virtual performances with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and music director Xian Zhang premieres in October and November.

Bell and Martínez join Zhang and the NJSO for a vocal and instrumental fireworks program. The program includes “Ah, ritorna, età dell’oro” by Mendelssohn’s Infelice, “Vorrei spiegarvi, oh Dio!” »By Mozart and the Violin Concerto No. 2 by Wieniawski. The concert will begin on October 20 at 7:30 p.m.

Among the greatest sopranos to ever grace the stage, Fleming returns to the NJSO for his first performance of Wagner Lieder by Wesendonck. The program also includes the work of Wagner Siegfried’s Idyll and the Adagietto from Bizet Arlesienne Suite n ° 1. The concert will begin on November 17 at 7:30 p.m.

Purple Critter Media captured the live concerts at NJPAC in Newark earlier this year. Director Andrew Bove draws on his unique background in video / audio engineering, music production and performance to bring an insightful, music-driven perspective to these multi-camera orchestral productions. Purple Critter founder Toni Dolce, who has led strategy and production teams through a diverse set of pillars after a successful career as a classical singer, produces.

Longtime NJSO sound engineer and multiple Grammy Award winner Tim Martyn recorded and mixed the audio for these concerts. David Frost, 16-time Grammy winner and regular producer for the Metropolitan Opera, mixed the audio for Fleming’s performance.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NJSO has made free virtual performances and online educational programs available, reaching more than 10 million people on the Orchestra’s digital channels. NJSO Concert Films combines world-class NJSO performances with stunning images of the people and cityscapes of New Jersey. The NJSO showcased innovative programs with other arts organizations, community ensembles and statewide partners. Musicians perform solo and chamber works from iconic New Jersey locations in NJSO Everywhere. NJSO at Home highlights intimate in-home performances, instrument demonstrations, educational videos, and hours of concert recordings.

The NYO’s youth orchestras have expanded to a hybrid in-person / virtual design, introducing entirely new dimensions to the program, from composition and rhythm lessons to an eclectic range of electives. In 2020-2021, nearly 200 students collaborated on a year-long creative composition project – a unique and engaging opportunity to explore their own musical voices and shape new works drawing inspiration from all of the genres within them. inspire.
