Master & Dynamic Headphones MW08
Master & Dynamic is known for making high quality audio devices. What they do better than anyone, however, is adding a touch of sparkle that makes your products both stunning and functional. It’s no different from the Master & Dynamic MW08 headphones that left me speechless when I first opened the box.
These headphones are Magnificent. It seems like a weird thing to say about a product that I’m going to stick my ear in, but everything about them is beautiful. The ceramic material used is clearly of premium quality, the colors are vibrant and unique, and the finish is crisp and shiny. The Master & Dynamics The MW08 headphones are expensive, but you can tell they will be the second you look at them.
The headphones come in a stainless steel charging case that looks almost as good as the headphones themselves. The case for the Master & Dynamic MW08 headphones can even be monogrammed upon purchase, adding an extra touch to your extravagant device. I will note, however, that it is very susceptible to damage / scratches / fingerprints. Although it also comes with a cloth carrying case, I found myself polishing it regularly.
The charging case provides an additional 30 hours of charge for your headphones, up to 42 hours in total. In my experience, using them almost daily in the office, it took me about two weeks before I needed to charge the case, and even then my headphones were still at 46% of battery power. The battery life of the Master & Dynamic MW08 headphones is second to none, especially with how quickly they charge when the battery is finally depleted.

The shape and design of the headphones themselves are comfortable. In the box, they offer several sizes of ear tips, with the medium option already attached. I upgraded to the little one and found the MW08 to be comfortable and secure no matter what I do. I can wear them for long periods of time without irritation, although it took a little getting used to.
Fortunately, compared to most other headphones, the controls on the Master & Dynamic MW08 headphones are simple and responsive. With a multi-function button on the right controlling pause, play, rewind, answer calls AND voice assistant, I thought it would be complete chaos. Although I needed to check the instructions a few times, once I got the models I didn’t seem to have any issues with the button functions. The high and low volumes are located on the left and do exactly what they should. Pairing was just as easy, take them out of the case, turn on the Bluetooth search for your devices and there they are. I never had to reassociate them at any time during the review process.
The sound of the MW08 is better than any other headphone I have owned, but somehow I still wanted more. Priced at $ 299, I wanted to be blown away by the sound quality, and I just wasn’t.

Don’t get me wrong, the Master & Dynamic MW08 headphones sound great, but you can find similar sound at a much lower price point. They deliver a rich listening experience, with 11mm beryllium drivers allowing for warm sound, but little is offered beyond that.
Master & Dynamic uses M&D Connect, allowing you to update your devices and optimize them for your personal listening experience. Unfortunately, the MW08 headphones have very few customization options. In the app, you can customize the device name, global volume, auto shut-off timer, and in-ear detection. I turned off in-ear detection almost immediately, because every time I played with the headphones, or they weren’t seated properly, my sound cut off completely. Yes, it can save battery life, but it sure didn’t save my sanity.

The worldwide volume is really the only interesting feature of the MW08 headphones. It enables active noise cancellation in two modes, Max ANC and All Day ANC (recommended for less noisy environments) and ambient listening. The desk is pretty quiet as standard, so I took the headphones home to test them out. With two kids under the age of six, I can confidently say that the Master & Dynamic MW08 headphones feature the ANC which works extremely well. The problem is that this is basically the only feature.
The microphone of the MW08 earphones is sufficient. During phone calls and video calls, the sound was clear and I didn’t have to yell at anything to be heard. I did however find a problem with the earphone connection to my Samsung 20 Ultra 5g smartphone. Often times, sitting right next to my phone, one or both earbuds would cut off or crackle, taking a second to snap back into place. I also need to make sure to keep my phone with me if I plan to leave the room, as the connection doesn’t have a long range, often cutting off if I move from one desk to another. It’s not a deal breaker, but again, for the price, I want these headphones to move mountains.
Overall, the Master & Dynamic MW08 headphones are stylish, but they fall short of their market end when you look at the price. The style they offer is way beyond any other brand. They sound good, but the specs and functions have to be perfect to excuse even approaching that price tag. Unfortunately, the MW08 headphones just don’t reach that mark.
