BEAUMONT — Students at Lamar State College in Port Arthur share their artistic offerings during the 2022 Festival of Fine Arts Thursday in Beaumont.

The event takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at Madison’s, located at 4020 Dowlen Road.

“This field is rich in talent, especially in the fine arts, and that’s a big reason LSCPA’s programs thrive the way they do,” said Eddie Vandewalker, president of the commercial music department. , visual and performing arts.

“It seems the talent here is endless. I am constantly amazed at the quality of the studio art, graphics, theater and musical presentations that our students have put together here. »

The event begins with an art exhibit featuring studio art and graphic design students from LSCPA. A dramatic excerpt will take place from 6:45 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The music starts at 7 p.m. with Polo & Jeans by LSCPA. The Pure Atlantic Seahawks end the evening with a show from 8 to 9 p.m. Both bands are made up of students from the college’s commercial music program.

The event is presented free of charge.

Registration for the 2022 summer and fall semesters is ongoing at LSCPA. Commercial music, performing, and visual arts is one of the favorite destinations for new students. The program is the only one of its kind in southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana.

“It’s definitely a destination for students looking to advance their artistic skills,” Vandewalker said. “In addition to becoming better at whatever discipline a student chooses to focus on, it becomes apparent fairly quickly that there are many career opportunities in the arts.”

LSCPA offers associate degrees in Audio-Visual Production, Commercial Music-Performance, Music Engineer-Commercial Audio, Graphic Design, a field of study in Music, Theater, and Studio Art. Certificates are available in graphic design, audio engineering, audiovisual production, and music.
