If you’ve read my hardware reviews, you know I like heavy stuff, that’s a telltale sign of durability. King Bee II weighs 2.47 pounds! An absolute beast! It’s a similar shape to the Worker Bee II but much larger and the case is stretched longer. Out of the box it comes mounted on its custom Beekeeper shock mount. There’s no better way to add shock mount to your microphone than a factory fit. At the bottom where the windscreen sits, you’ll find a functional honeycomb-shaped pop filter. It has the same sleek all-black design as other second-gen Neat microphones, which look stellar. Out of the box, King Bee II is equipped and ready to mount in any professional studio.

As I expected from a flagship XLR microphone, King Bee II has a large diaphragm. Its true 34mm center-terminated condenser capsule design gives you that radio-like vocal sound we all know and love. The clarity and depth of sound emitted by King Bee II is comparable to much higher priced microphones. Class-A electronic circuitry gives the sound a raw, real-like feel by improving high-frequency response and lowering distortion resolution. Like other second-generation Neat XLR microphones, it offers a top-notch performance package at an affordable price.
