Ibiza legends Lovely Laura & Ben Santiago party at Newbury Racecourse
Ibiza legends Lovely Laura and Ben Santiago take to the stage at Newbury Racecourse for an after-party after Al Shaqab Lockinge’s final race with Ladies Day on Saturday May 14.
To celebrate the upcoming Jubilee, racing fans can expect not only fast and fashionable horses, but also exclusive cocktails with the recently launched “Jubilee Spritz” in select bars, new hospitality offers from first-rate, including the Jubilee Garden package, plus live acoustic music throughout the afternoon and finally the after-party, with the dynamic husband-and-wife duo rocking some brilliant dance tunes.

The duo have become one of the hottest and most sought-after stars on the circuit, generating huge followings in Ibiza and amassing over 50 million social media streams for their unique saxophone and DJ combination.

As part of its progressive vision for Ladies’ Day, the racetrack will champion an industry first with the recent launch of its Women’s Race Commentary initiative. Aspiring commentator Dani Jackson takes the microphone to comment on the first race of the day, a charity race to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee to raise money for the Injured Jockeys Fund.
Race fans will also have the chance to hear from top sports personalities before the live action begins with their panel of trailblazers including Lioness captain Katie Zelem, Olympic curling gold medalist Eve Muirhead and jockey Hollie Doyle talking about their personal journeys in their sport.
The racetrack will become awash in color and fashion, as racing fans showcase their huge range of individual ‘signature styles’ with on-site prizes awarded throughout the afternoon by the style team of the racetrack. Prizes include food and drink vouchers, tickets to upcoming race days and more.
The afternoon’s star attraction, the Group 1 Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes, run down the Newbury Straight mile and worth an impressive £350,000 in prize money, is the first middle-distance race of the season , designed for older horses. Won by great horses in the past including the legendary Frankel (2012), Ribchester (2014) and more recently by Palace Pier (2021), the very first race in the race was won by the Queen’s Pall Mall horse in 1958 , who also had back-to-back race victories.
