Unlike the phone events that kick off the design of a new phone, we already know what the high-end Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro look like. Both phones will sport a camera bar along the back, and come in a variety of pastel and metallic colors. When the two Pixel 6 phones received a first teaser in August, we learned that the phones will launch Google’s Tensor internal system-on-a-chip. The internal change could be inspired by how Apple designs its own chips for the iPhone line, allowing Google to customize and further support the Pixel phone.

We haven’t learned the specs for the Pixel’s cameras yet, but Google revealed that both phones have a new sensor that absorbs 150% more light than the Pixel 5 with an ultra-wide lens. The Pixel 6 Pro will step up its camera bar by also including a telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom.

Google Pixel event on October 19: what to expect

The Tensor chip will also bring photographic improvements on the software side, such as fixing blurry photos by combining elements from multiple shots into a single image, and allow the phone to perform tasks that rely on artificial intelligence. Examples of the latter include improved speech recognition, dictation which can differentiate messages and voice commands, live translations which combine Google’s existing Live Caption and Interpreter modes.

Yet despite these teases, there are still plenty of rumors about the Pixel 6 that the October 19 event will hopefully address. Beyond the phone’s launch date and price, these include a possible 50-megapixel wide camera, Pixel support with 23-watt wireless charging, and a Pixel Pass subscription that would pool funding for the phone. with Google services like YouTube Premium. This last possibility could compete with the Apple One subscription plans, while including the cost of the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro, and would be similar to Microsoft Xbox All Access subscription which bundles a game console with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

What do you hope we will reveal about the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro at the Google event on October 19? Let us know in the comments.
