FEA Consulting Engineers Principal Named President of ASHRAE Southern Nevada Chapter

Ryan Calahan, director of FEA Consulting Engineers, has been named president of the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Calahan will lead the chapter for the 2022-2023 term.

“It was a great pleasure to be part of this organization. I look forward to leading our Southern Nevada Chapter in our continued efforts to improve lives through sustainable technology,” Calahan said.

Founded over 100 years ago, ASHRAE is an international company working to advance human well-being through the implementation and creation of sustainable technologies in the built environment. ASHRAE members focus on building systems, conducting research programs, developing energy-efficient technologies, and improving indoor air quality, refrigeration, and sustainability.

Calahan has been a member of the Southern Nevada Chapter for 16 years and served on the organization’s Board of Governors for five years. He helped lead the chapter’s work in Nevada and beyond, including a global effort to “light up the world,” in which he assisted ASHRAE’s humanitarian mission in Guatemala to integrate solar home kits into rural houses. Calahan and other ASHRAE members have personally installed solar-powered outdoor and indoor lighting and ventilation systems in homes that lack access to electricity.

“It’s easy to forget how important sustainable technology can be to some parts of the world, especially those who live by candlelight or don’t have access to energy systems,” Calahan said. . “ASHRAE members have worked diligently to address some of these issues and have helped improve the quality of life for those in need.”

Calahan leads the mechanical and plumbing engineering departments at FEA Consulting Engineers. An industry leader, he was named one of the nation’s top building, design and construction professionals under 40 in the renowned Building Design+Construction “40 Under 40” competition.

Along with his position at ASHRAE, Calahan was also a guest member of the Nevada State Board of Engineers and represented the company with Get Outdoors Nevada in its mission to clean up local trails and parks. He also served as a mentor for Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada Boys Night Out and worked with Habitat for Humanity to help build a new home for a local single mother.
