Located in Pretoria, South Africa, CHOOSE LIFE Church continued its adoption of technology with the implementation of a 108-panel Xcell-i Pixel Plus LED wall to serve as the backdrop for the worship scene. , alongside an upgrade of its streaming hardware and infrastructure.

Founded in 2005 by Pastor John and Mandri Roebert, the church leadership team has an expansive vision, using technology to enhance its live events, as well as effectively spreading the message with live streams and broadcasts that reach large audiences online. This adoption of technology has been part of CHOOSE LIFE’s philosophy throughout its history, constantly ensuring that high quality systems are installed in its premises.

After purchasing the building in 2010, the first thing the management team did was renovate and improve the existing system. The first major project in 2011 centered on the installation of a state-of-the-art d&b T-Series audio system in the main auditorium, which was supplied and integrated by Stage Audio Works (SAW). CHOOSE LIFE Church has once again called on SAW for the new Pixel Plus project.

“Recently, Nathan from SAW visited and listened to the system,” explained Grant Boswell, Technical Support Manager at CHOOSE LIFE Church. “He said it still sounded as good as it did when it was installed twelve years ago, if not better thanks to the acoustic treatment that has been carried out since. He also said it would be difficult to replace it today with a comparable system that would make a noticeable difference without spending a lot more money – a true sign of quality engineering.

For the main solution, Stage Audio Works implemented a 108-panel Xcell-i LED wall from its Pixel Plus range. The technology offers high contrast and refresh rates and the ability to vary the pixel pitch to suit any application, indoors or otherwise. Significantly, all of this is offered at an extremely cost-effective price.

“Our old stage set was rather boring and dark, so we wanted to lighten and animate it to give our auditorium a more contemporary look and create an exciting stage element,” Boswell said. “A few years ago we hired a display and fell in love with it, so we decided it was time for a permanent upgrade,” says Boswell. “We did some research and received several quotes, but ultimately decided to go with SAW’s Pixel Plus solution…. This visual element will greatly improve the quality of our live streams, especially with the further upgrade of our video frame in all our facilities.”

SAW has significantly improved the church’s live broadcast capabilities by switching to HD-SDI cabling for all projectors and equipment in the auditorium, additional rooms and foyer. Likewise, the team upgraded their original streaming PCs to a more sophisticated array of custom-built Dream Machine Light PCs. At the software level, SAW galvanized adoption of ProPresenter 7 and supported the transition to the Resi streaming platform, providing the church with increased flexibility and scalability, with guaranteed seamless streaming, even in the event. temporary total loss of internet connection – in Boswell’s own words, “opening up many more options and opportunities for us in the future”.
