While tailgating at a Panthers game in 2002, the smell of barbeque drifting over from the Blues, Brews & BBQ event in Uptown Charlotte inspired lifelong friends, Mark and Renée Cieslikowski of Lake Wylie, South Carolina and Brian and Linda Rich of Charlotte, North Carolina to embark on a barbeque journey that has resulted in the highly successful Q2U BBQ Pit Restaurant and Catering of Lake Wylie, just 20 miles south of Charlotte, North Carolina.
After entering the Charlotte event the following year, and achieving respectable results, the Q2U Team was hooked and began entering events sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCB) and the South Carolina Barbecue Association (SCBA). Q2U traveled on weekends, participating in barbeque competitions from New Jersey to Georgia. Their commitment to cooking was achieved when they were awarded the South Carolina Masters of Barbeque Award, the highest distinction for barbeque competitions. This significant achievement was accomplished by being the team with the highest score in a year-long competition across the state of South Carolina.
In 2009, Mark and Brian took their passion to the next level and made barbeque their careers by opening the Q2U BBQ Pit in Lake Wylie – a highly successful and growing restaurant and catering operation serving the local community and beyond.
